JMGA is a woman-owned architecture and interior design firm specializing in custom design and architecture in New York and California. We take on each project with a personal touch: collaborating closely with you as we listen to your goals, contributing ideas to your vision from our international travels and museum design experience, and inspiring you with an artful touch to every rendering and drawing we create for you and your builders.  Everything we make with you is uniquely yours, and we pride ourselves in the the intentional creation of both the final product and the curated process.

My overall working experience with Julia has been exceptional. This is my first time tackling a full gut renovation of a 2-story townhouse in Brooklyn, and she was able to walk me through the process with ease and confidence as she has renovated her own home in Brooklyn. More importantly, I felt like I had a partner with Julia when it came to problem solving the issues that had arisen, and it was incredible to be able to bounce ideas to someone who has a keen sense of design and aesthetic. - Private Client, Brooklyn, NY

Julia Molloy Gallagher founded the licensed architecture office Julia Molloy Gallagher Architecture PLLC in 2017, co-founded the management and production studio Future Goose LLC with Anthony Aguilar Gallagher in 2012, and co-founded the sustainable art collaborative XLXS with Taka Sarui in 2007.

The office and it’s collaborative teams produce multidisciplinary work ranging from strategic planning, architecture design and construction, interior design, community workshops, and public art installations.  Across disciplines we specialize in curating engagement between governments, organizations, designers, and individuals to improve people’s experience in the places they visit, they live, and they love.  We focus on cultural, sustainable, and transformative environments that interface between historic spaces and the transient communities who create them.

Gallagher’s list of clients and collaborators include Gehry Partners, TDIC in Abu Dhabi, Matel Brands, L Brands, Overseas Building Operations with the US Department of State, National Park Services, the Kennedy Center, and various international artists, architects, and individuals.  Prior to establishing her own practice Gallagher worked with design firms in New York City including Rockwell Group, Spacesmith, Slade Architecture, and SSD Architecture.  Beyond design, Julia has management and community development experience working in the non-profit sector with Van Alen Institute, Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, the UN-founded Global Studio in Johannesburg, and Urban Think Tank in Caracas, Venezuela.

Julia has a Bachelors of Arts from Barnard College and a Masters of Architecture from Columbia University. She is currently teaching design studios at the Graduate School of Architecture, Preservation and Planning at Columbia University and the School for Constructed Environments at Parsons School of Design.   Julia lives and works in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
